WHERE WE ARE?
The WARREDOC offices are located inside the prestigious venue of Villa Colombella, home of the international advanced study center of the University for Foreigners of Perugia. Villa Colombella also hosts the UNESCO WWAP (World Water Assessment Program), the World Water Assessment Program, funded by the Italian Government and the Umbria Region since 2006.
Villa Colombella, in addition to the WARREDOC and UNESCO offices, includes several conference rooms, classrooms and a guesthouse (with bedrooms, social room and dining hall, gym, kitchens, etc.) that can accommodate approximately 50 people. The Villa, which has undergone major restoration and consolidation work between 1998 and 2003, has a tradition of over 30 years as a Residential Hydrology School for short courses with teachers and students who have participated in the events of advanced training, the WARREDOC summer and winter school, coming from around the world.
Villa Colombella is located about 15 minutes by car from the historic center of Perugia and 20 minutes from Assisi. The strategic position of Colombella provides access to the wonderful cultural, artistic, gastronomic and tourist opportunities of the Umbria Region like Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Spoleto, Foligno, Narni, Rasiglia, etc. that offer festivals and other events throughout the year. Among the most famous events it is worth mentioning: Umbria Jazz (July), Winter Jazz (January), Festival of Two Worlds (June, July), Eurochocolate (October), Calendimaggio (May), Donation of the Santa Spina (medieval re-enactment event in August) , Montefalco / Torgiano Cantine open (May-July and September-October), Corsa all’Anello in Narni (September) and local festivals of typical products (wine, pork, onion, truffles, flowers, chestnuts, and more) especially during the summer months. Chestnut festivals, olive oil, porchetta, and onion festivals occur throughout the year.
The WARREDOC also has offices in the Scortici Building in the proximity of Palazzo Gallenga in Piazza Fortebraccio within the distributed University for Foreigners of Perugia campus complex including a series of buildings in the historic center of Perugia where professors, researchers and students of the University for Foreigners of Perugia work and study.
