WITH THE SUPPORT AND THE PATRONAGE OF

UPDATE: The EXTREMES IN WATER SCIENCE International Doctoral School, initially scheduled for July 2020, was postponed to July 10th – 14th 2022 – considering the COVID pandemic – to hold it in presence. Pre-registered participants and interested students, while waiting for the School to be held in presence, were invited to the free virtual meeting  (held on 13 July 2020), a Taste of the Extremes School, The event included an ‘ice-breaker’ meeting, in which students and Lecturers had a chance of getting to know one another, followed by a series of short seminars on the topic of the School by the Lecturers.  The presentations of the virtual event are available at the dedicated virtual meeting “A Taste of Extremes in Water Science” event webpage.

2022 Edition: Summer School on EXTREMES IN WATER SCIENCE

Organized by

WARREDOC, Università per Stranieri di Perugia

University of Palermo – Department of Engineering  (Palermo, Italy)

on July 10th – 14th 2022

Keynote Lecturers

Scientific Commitee

Roberto Deidda, Salvatore Grimaldi, Marco Marani,  Leonardo Valerio Noto, Elena Volpi

Background and Goals

The Summer School will focus on advances in statistical theory and applications dealing with extremes in Earth System Sciences, and in Water Science in particular. The aim is to bring PhD students, post-docs, and young scientists from different disciplines together with leading scientists in the fields of statistics of extremes, hydrology, and Earth System Science in general. Towards this aim, the School will be composed of traditional lectures on advanced topics and of group research work lead by the lecturers on topics at the boundary of the state-of-the-art

Organizing Commitee

Fabio Castelli, Aldo Fiori, Fernando Nardi, Maria Cristina Rulli

Local Organizing Committee

Antonio Annis, Giuseppe Cipolla, Simonetta Farinelli, Simone Olivieri
